Hello and Welcome to My Blog!
My name is Alexa, I am a wife and stay at home mom. Justin and I have two beautiful children, our daughter Thea and baby boy Quinten. I have learned a lot about babies and kids in my journey into motherhood, and I’ve learned a lot about myself. I started Mommy’s Baking because I want to share the experiences and lessons I’ve learned with other mothers out there. Though I sometimes felt lost in this new phase of my life, I’ve discovered my true passions and what really matters to me. I am a proud mother of two and I love to bake! Baking has always brought me joy, and I love seeing the smiles my creations bring. I love the fact that you can take simple ingredients and transform them into something awesome! I love the simple joys in life and I believe that less is more.
The Simple Life
After having my second baby, I realized that I wasn’t paying any attention to our finances. I was going through life as a mindless consumer, out of balance and unfocused on what really matters. I was buying things because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do. I let things get out of hand. I bought expensive baby items for the sake of having a matching nursery. I bought expensive maternity and nursing clothes, without knowing there was an alternative. Every problem you come across, instead of trying to figure out how to solve it on your own, or find a different way of fixing it, there is always a shortcut you can pay for.
It gets to the point where you realize that it’s never going to be enough. There will always be something else you have to buy, something more you must have. All the stuff you have accumulated so far is just clutter around your house, that now brings you stress and takes time to clean. At least that’s the way I see it now. Trust me, when you have kids to take care of the last thing you want to do is clean up more stuff.
I’ve come to value simplicity. I’ve learned that having less stuff around, less clutter, less to worry about and to take care of is actually quite liberating. It brings me joy to see a clean counter-top, or less toys spread all over the floor, or less clothes in my closet. I used to stand in front of it minute upon minute, trying to figure out what to wear. Only to end up decidedly telling my husband, “I have nothing to wear!!” I like having just what I need and realizing it is enough.
With this new and different perspective, I hope I can meet other moms out there who feel the same way. I am starting on a frugal, simple and happy adventure in my life, and I hope you join me!
